It was heavily promoted before it came out, but nobody wanted to buy it. An "Edsel" is a commercial failure, a bad business idea.

This one belonged to Elvis Presley, the famous singer, A Cadillac is an expensive luxury car, but not the most expensive. To paint it pink means you are showing off that you can afford one. So a pink Cadillac means bad taste, lack of culture or dignity.
This is a DeLorean--made famous especially by the "Back to the Future" movies. When it came out, it was represented as the car of the future. But the company failed, and few were made. So it represents a humorous paradox: a future that remains forever in the past.
